When it comes to seaside weddings, Paralimni Municipality and its coastal resort Protaras are one of the most popular choices on the island, thanks to countless options for vows with a picture-perfect Mediterranean backdrop, either at the municipality’s own venues, or at the many high-star hotels whose grounds overlook the region’s crystal waters.
In 2015, Protaras conducted around 650 civil unions and believes that this year the figure will be at least matched, if not exceeded. The venues that the municipality offers consist of a mix of charming traditional sites and breathtaking coastal spots to cater for both those seeking the ‘sand and sea’ day of their dreams, and those who want an atmosphere of local customs and Cypriot character. Ceremonies can take place at the Town Hall, the Traditional House, St Elias Gardens, the Pernera Blue Waters beach venue, and the newer Ayia Triada beach site.
The Traditional House is a museum housed in a restored 19th century residence, complete with a beautiful courtyard featuring fragrant blooms and the distinctive, traditional Cypriot arches. The venue is also wheelchair accessible and is the perfect option for those who want to add local authenticity to their ceremony.
Another historical option is the St Elias Gardens venue, which is located at the foothill of the quaint St Elias Chapel amidst colourful flora and foliage, further enhanced by the stone seating and a marble table.
